Intro to Hockey
The Intro to hockey program is administered by the Rink Exchange with two goals in mind: 1.Find out if a child enjoys hockey 2. Give them the tools to move onto their age appropriate teams. This class requires zero experience with skating and is taught by experienced instructors. Below is the normal progression for players taking the class ahead of joining either the Rootbeer League or LAHA Players ages 4-8 take 1-2 classes Players ages 9-12 take 2-3 sessions. For older players it can vary widely based on athletic capabilities. Rootbeer League
Think of it as adult recreation but for kids, this introduction to age appropriate gameplay allows for plays who are currently in or graduated from the Intro to Hockey program, as well as, players from Lane Amateur Hockey Association to compete in low stress environments with experienced coaches ensuring the games are fun and educational for all involved. Rootbeer League runs for two sessions each year, a Fall session and a Spring Session. This is to supplement LAHA's winter season as players both Lane Amateur Hockey Association (LAHA)
The largest source of Youth Hockey in the Willamette Valley, Lane Amateur Hockey Association is responsible for the development of youth hockey players in Eugene. The organization is separate from the Rink Exchange and operates as an entirely volunteer run entity. LAHA manages all youth hockey competitions between the months of October and March. LAHA age divisions include- 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U. The goal of LAHA is to develop every hockey player to their fullest potential. |
